Any loyal alum of the University of Texas would love to hook this commemorative plate! This scarce plate is part of a series of twelve dinner plates created by the famed English pottery Wedgwood in 1937 for the University of Texas. Decorated in the school colors of orange and white, each plate featured a landmark at the university's Austin campus.
This particular plate carries a detailed drawing of the Home Economics building.
The elaborate border includes the seals of the university and the State of Texas, as well as bluebonnets, prickly pear cactus and, of course, longhorns.
On the back is the music and opening line to the school song, "The Eyes of Texas." In addition to the Wedgwood mark is the logo of the importer, Jones, McDuffee & Stratton.
