We Have a Hunch. . .

. . .that you will love this hutch!  The epitome of American mid-century modern, this classic china cabinet's clean uncluttered lines and natural wood will fit into any decor, from traditional to minimalist.

American mid-century modern was a significant design movement stretching from 1945 through the 1960s.  Influenced by European movements such as the German Bauhaus school and Scandinavian design, mid-century modern is characterized by the simplicity of its style, use of natural materials,  and the lack of unnecessary embellishment.  Simple does not mean plain and the craftsmanship of this outstanding vintage piece is seen in the fine framing, the gorgeous grain of the wood, and the cast textured handles

This piece was made by Henredon, an American furniture factory founded in North Carolina in 1945.    The company was renown for its beautiful high-end furniture, with styles ranging from classic to contemporary, including a line of mid-century modern pieces.  Although in the 2000s Henredon did outsource some of its manufacturing overseas, vintage pieces like this were made in America with fine hardwood and veneers.  In 2018, the parent company of Henredon filed for bankruptcy.  This handsome hutch is more than just a finely-crafted piece of furniture, it is an example of American design history.
